2021 Year of Travel in Photos

2021 was quite a year. I did more travel than in 2020, but still not as much as previous years. Below are some of my favorite pictures from my travel in 2021.

In January I spent a flew to Fort Lauderdale on a cheap Alaska flight to get some miles and sun. I stayed at The Confidante on Miami’s South Beach.

In February I flew to LA and rented a car for a winter road trip. I ended up driving Route 66 through Arizona, down to the Carlsbad Canyons but a winter snowstorm in Texas made me reroute to El Paso to fly home.

In April I spent a week in Costa Rica, my first international trip since the start of Covid. I stayed at the beautiful Andaz.

In June I flew to Las Vegas for a few days to escape the heat of Seattle… which is probably the only time I’ll ever type that in my life. One of the highlights of my year was visiting Omega Mart at Area 15. It is a must see for anyone visiting Vegas.

Qatar Airways gave away a bunch of flights to first responders and teachers this year. I was lucky enough to snag one and booked a trip to Europe in July, starting with a visit to Greece where I visited Athens, Hydra, and Nafplio.

From there I visited Bucharest and Sofia.

Malta was one of my favorite locations to visit and I stayed at the fantastic Casa Ellul, a Hyatt/SLH property.

I flew up to Zurich where I spend a few nights at the Regency before returning to the USA in early August.

November took me to the east coast twice. First for a weekend in Atlantic City to play in the Caesars Rewards Millionaire Maker tournament (no, I didn’t win).

For Thanksgiving I spent a long weekend in New York City, seeing Broadway shows and staying at the Park Hyatt, just before Omicron started shutting things down again.
