San Juan Puerto Rico Airport Lounge
There is all of one, yes one, San Juan Puerto Rico Airport lounge. Appropriately it is named The Lounge but also is referred to as the Avianca VIP Lounge. Don’t try to figure it out. It is run by the Global Lounge Network and can be accessed via Priority Pass. Global Lounge Network isn’t so global, they run five lounges throughout Central America. There are other ways to get in to the lounge, including being a faculty at Ross University School of Medicine (no, I am not making that up), but most travelers will be using their Priority Pass.
Location
First you have to find the lounge at San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport. It is located in Terminal C. I spent a long weekend as El San Juan Hotel and I was flying out on JetBlue, located in Terminal A. It is a bit of a walk to find the lounge.
It is approximately in the location of the arrow on this map:
Look for the sign for The Lounge. On the wall is a sign for the Avianca Sala VIP.
Walk into the alcove and take the elevator to the third floor.
You may think you are in a hospital with all the white walls, but keep going down the hall until you find this nondescript door.
Finally, open it and you are in the reception area of the San Juan Puerto Rico Airport Lounge! Congrats.
The Lounge
Despite the hard to find location, the San Juan Puerto Rico Airport Lounge is actually surprisingly nice. There is a large dining area as well as a couple of sections of more comfortable lounge chairs.
There is a full self service bar with wine and hard alcohol. Beer and soft drinks are in the refrigerators below the bar.
I visited the San Juan Puerto Rico Airport Lounge before my 9:30am flight and there were very limited food choices.
Off of the main area is a business center and a separate kids play room.
Notable are the two quiet rooms. The first has built in nooks with comfortable chairs. And the second has low light and day beds.
The furniture is well worn but comfortable.
The internet is surprisingly fast.
While not a First Class lounge by any means, the San Juan Puerto Rico Airport Lounge is fine for a quiet place to rest and grab a drink before your flight. Make sure you have a chunk of time especially if flying JetBlue as it is a bit of a walk.
