I completed my Hyatt Diamond Challenge (also known as the Elite Tier Offer) earlier this year. At that time, after enrolling in the Offer you had 60 days to stay 12 nights at Hyatt properties to gain Diamond status through February 2016. It seems that there may be a Hyatt Diamond Challenge update on the horizon, as early as tomorrow (June 1, 2015).
The rumor at FlyerTalk is that starting June 1, 2015, the new Elite Tier Offer will give Diamond status through February 2017. The same requirements would apply; 6 nights to gain Platinum status and 12 nights to gain Diamond. You will still get 1,000 bonus points for each night you stay for the first 6 nights.
Of note, the 20% back on points promotion is still good (assuming you signed up) through July 31, 2015, so using points + cash is still a good option to get status as points + cash nights are eligible.
I have reached out to Hyatt for confirmation on the Elite Tier Offer and will update this page with any confirmation of the Hyatt Diamond Challenge update I receive.
Update: According to Hyatt (via Twitter), the Elite Tier Offer is good for Diamond status through February 2017 after staying 12 nights in 60 days. The Offer is valid through April 30, 2016, so no need to rush out to sign up. Call Hyatt Gold Passport a 1-800-228-3360 and ask to enroll in the “Elite Tier Offer”. It seems you no longer need a hotel to sponsor you for the Challenge.
Read more for the confirmation from Hyatt.
Here is the tweet:
@single_flyer We can enroll people in the Elitre Tier challenge, yes. However since you’re already Diamond you would not qualify. ^MB
