Margaritaville Resort Coming to Las Vegas?

This weekend I was reading up about Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville company. It is a hotel, restaurant, and cruise brand that has been growing significantly. The chain has over 30 hotels already with many more in the pipeline.

One major location that does not yet have a Margaritaville is Las Vegas. There is a Wyndham timeshare that is somehow associated with the Margaritaville Vacation Club off strip. There was a Margaritaville restaurant (and casino) located at the Flamingo, but it closed earlier this year after a 20-year run on the Strip.

Today I was browsing one of my favorite Vegas blogs, Vital Vegas, and saw this post. Apparently there is a new proposal for a hotel and condo complex located next to the Fountainebleau on the north end of the Strip. The land is the former site of the Riviera.

While the proposal doesn’t mention Margaritaville, from the proposal submitted it is pretty clear what they have in mind.

Take a look at the photo of the proposal:

The “billboard” is definitely Margaritaville branding. That thrill ride tower has a margarita at the top. And according to Vital Vegas, the amusement ride is going to have coconut shell themed swing.

Who knows if this project will actually happen, but I can definitely imagine a Margaritaville hotel and timeshare landing on the Las Vegas Strip at some point.
