Harrah’s Las Vegas opened in 1972 as the Holiday Inn Center Strip. In 1992 it changed names to Harrah’s Las Vegas and is managed by Caesars. The property has undergone multiple renovations over the past 50 years; but it is clear it is not a modern resort property. The rooms have all been updated between 2018 and 2021.
I was going to be attending the U2 concert at the Sphere with some family members. It was a three day weekend and hotel rates were high. Harrah’s was a good deal and close to the Sphere so I booked my first stay at the property.
Location
Harrah’s is located mid-Strip; just north of Linq and south of Casino Royale and Venetian. Across the street is Mirage and the Caesars Forum shops.
Check In
I arrived on a Friday evening around 8pm. I checked in online and then used one of the kiosks to finalize my check in and get my key. There was no line for the kiosks and only a short line for the human assisted check in.
I was assigned a room in the Mountain Tower. The Mountain Tower is closer to the strip, while the Valley Tower is behind that. They are actually connected by what I believe is the original hotel tower from 1972 (that is now considered part of the Mountain Tower). My room was located in the portion of the hotel that was built in 1980.
My room was on Floor “57”. Floor 57 is actually more like floor 17 as there are only a total of 23 floors in the Mountain Tower. The second floor is something like 42.
Getting to my room was a bit tricky as they are doing construction. To get to the floor I was on, I had to take the service elevator as they were replacing the main guest elevators.
As the tower is over 40 years old, the hallways are not nearly as long as some hotels you find in Vegas. The decor has been updated.
Room
I was assigned Room 57053.
As you enter, the bathroom is on the left. There is no closet.
I had a single King bed. On either side of the bed is a free standing wardrobe for storage.
The sheets on the bed had some dirt or stains on them and were well worn.
The bed faces a wall mounted TV, desk, and a make up table with a mini fridge underneath.
Along the window is a bench that is the main seating for the room.
The view from my room was of the other hotel towers as well as of the Venetian and the Venetian parking garage.
My first night the air conditioning didn’t work, but when I called the next day they quickly fixed it and it was back to blowing very cold air.
Bathroom
The bathroom has been updated and feels modern. There is a single vanity with plenty of counter space under a mirror with built in lighting.
The tub has been removed and converted to have a walk in shower with glass partition (no door or curtain).
Next to the shower (to the left of the photo above) there is a small open closet within the bathroom. All of the bath products are wall mounted except for one bar of soap and bottle of lotion on the counter.
Overall Harrah’s is fine. I would put it on the same level as Luxor or Flamingo. It isn’t luxurious but it is a fine place to sleep in a central location.
