SingleFlyer Top Posts of 2020

SingleFlyer Top Posts of 2020

The year 2020 was unlike any other.  COVID-19 shut down the world for travel.  People were traveling less and reading less about travel.  And it may be a long time before things come back to 2019 levels.  There is a good chance that the travel industry will never recover as business move their meetings online.

Points and miles programs have pivoted and it is likely that 2020 will be seen as a watershed moment.

I heard a school nurse mention recently that lice infections were way down at his re-opened school.  It will be fascinating to see the less obvious impacts of a worldwide pandemic.  The future of travel is uncertain.

As soon as March hit, the number of pages views SingleFlyer received was about 10% of historical rates.  In 2020, the number of views of my posts about airlines and hotels were down, but posts about Amtrak and Las Vegas were up.  For the first time since launching SingleFlyer, my post views overall decreased.

I didn’t travel as much in 2020.  All of my travel was domestic; I didn’t even leave the United States in 2020.  It was the first time in a long time that I didn’t travel outside the country.

But I still managed to travel in the USA and wrote about it.  Here are the top posts I wrote during the year 2020.

10. The Driskill Austin – Hotel Review – A fantastic Hyatt owned, historic property in the heart of Austin.

9. The Loneliest Road in America – US Route 50 – My road trip around the western USA took me on Route 50 across Nevada, known as the Loneliest Road in America.

8. How Much is Hyatt Globalist Status Worth? – Many hotels and airlines offered promotions that made it easier to reach elite status during COVID.  It got me thinking about the value of top tier elite status as Hyatt.

7. How to Status Match Hotel Loyalty to Caesars Rewards Diamond – Written pre-COVID, this post helps people figure out how to get Diamond Status with Caesars Rewards casino elite status.

6. Caesars Rewards Diamond Status Explained – 2020 Update – The update to one of my more popular posts, this explains why someone would want Caesars Rewards Diamond Status (see #7).

5. Dining on the Amtrak California Zephyr – One of my last trips before COVID hit was across the country on Amtrak.  This post gave readers an idea of what the food is like on the overnight train.

4. Caesars Diamond Celebration Dinner During COVID – One of the best perks of Caesars Rewards Diamond Status is the annual $100 dining credit.  During COVID, the options were less but there were still some opportunities to make use of the perk.

3. Caesars Palace Octavius Room Review – The newest Caesars Palace tower offers large rooms but long walks.

2. Amtrak California Zephyr Train: San Francisco to Chicago – A unique way to travel across America is through the Amtrak California Zephyr from the Bay Area to Chicago.  Crossing the desert and climbing the Rockies, it is thought of as the most scenic train ride in America.

1. Caesars Rewards Tier Credits Explained – During COVID, Caesars Rewards lowered the number of Tier Credits needed to earn elite status.  Perhaps that is why this post was my number one post written in 2020.

Thank you to all those that read my more limited posts of 2020.  I am excited for 2021 and the return to travel.  Follow along as I already have plans for trips to three new countries, some great hotels and flights, and a Caesars weekend in Atlantic City where I could win $1,000,000.
