Bally’s Las Vegas Hotel & Casino Review

Bally’s Las Vegas Hotel & Casino Review

Bally’s Las Vegas Hotel & Casino is part of Caesars Rewards.  As far as Vegas Strip properties go, it is one of the older ones.  It first opened in 1973 as the original MGM Grand, at the time the biggest hotel in the world.  It also was the site of a fire in 1980 that left 85 people dead.  In 1986 it was sold and rebranded as Bally’s.  The Strip facing entrance of the property was mutilated by the construction of the Las Vegas Bazaar a few years back.

Location

Bally’s is located at the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and E Flamingo.  It is center Strip and all the action is nearby.  Across Las Vegas Blvd is the Bellagio.  Kitty corner is Caesars Palace.  Across Flamingo is The Cromwell, Flamingo and Linq.  Right next door (and connected to Bally’s) is Paris.

Just outside the front entrance is the Bazaar shops and a CVS.  Out back is a monorail station.

Check In

I arrived late on a Friday night and there were only a few front desk staff on duty.  My room was comped as I was staying on an offer I received on my Caesars Rewards account as a Diamond elite member.  Resort fees are waived for all Diamonds — find out how you can status match to Diamond here.  I was assigned to room 1781 on the 17th floor of the Resort Tower facing north.

Room

I was assigned a Resort Room King Bed, the standard room at Bally’s.  The rooms have been recently updated and are basic but clean and functional.  As you enter, the bathroom is to the right and closet to the left.  The set up of the room is pretty standard.  Bed in the center with lamps and night stands on either side.

A floor lamp is near two chairs in front of the window.  Desk and TV are against the wall.

The linens are basic but clean.  Plenty of power outlets are built in throughout the room including USB ports.

My room looked out over E Flamingo, a busy road.  Even up on the 17th floor there is a ton of street noise; the windows are not at all sound dampening.  Don’t expect much of a view from any of the rooms.

Bathroom

The bathroom has recently been updated with the bathtub being removed and replaced by a glassed in shower.  A frosted glass door to the bathroom offers moderate privacy.  A single vanity does offer plenty of counter space.

The bathroom products are Bally’s branded and basic (only shampoo — no conditioner).

Just outside the bathroom is the closet that includes a safe.

Gym and Pool

While there is no spa at Bally’s, there is a gym and pool accessible from the basement level.  The gym recently opened and has an assortment of equipment

The pool is out the back past the monorail track.  As Vegas pools go, it lacks “wow” factor.

There is no spa at Bally’s, though Paris recently remodeled their spa.  I would suggest a walk over to the spa at the Linq or Caesars Palace.

I can’t complain too much about Bally’s since I was staying for absolutely no cost and was offered free entry into a blackjack tournament.  Bally’s is definitely an old hotel and it shows in many ways.  The rooms are renovated but basic and have disappointing views.  I won’t go out of my way to return to the property but if the price is right, the location and renovated rooms make it a fine choice for a stay on the strip.
