Staybridge Suites The Hague Parliament Review

Staybridge Suites The Hague Parliament Review

Before flying home out of Amsterdam, I decided to visit The Hague as I wanted to try another city in the Netherlands.  It is a quick 30 minute train ride to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport which makes the Hague an easy alternative to Amsterdam as a jumping off point.

I booked the hotel on a cash rate as I was finishing one of the IHG Accelerate challenges to get extra points.

Location

The Staybridge Suites is located in the center of The Hague, just across the pond from the Parliament and the Mauritshuis museum (where you can see the Girl with the Pearl Earrings).  Everything in the old city is a short walk away.

Tram 15 and 16 stop in front of the hotel and the train station is just a couple of stops away.

Surprisingly there are two other IHG properties within a few blocks.  The Holiday Inn Express is no more than two blocks away and the Hotel Indigo is about a 5 minute walk.

Check In

The property is built into two old buildings.  Though the outside looks authentically old, the inside is completely new.

You enter the hotel into an interior courtyard/atrium that is set up with tables for the morning breakfast.  The check in desks are at the opposite end of the room.

I arrived around 1:00pm and my room was ready for me.  I had booked a Superior Room for €131 and was upgraded to a One Bedroom Suite for my one night.

I was informed that the included breakfast was from 7:30-noon on Saturday in the lobby.  The other amenities, including gym, free washer and dryer and the small store, were pointed out to me as well.

Room

I was assigned to room 405 on the top (4th) floor.  It is an adjoining room to 404, so I did hear some noise during my stay.

You enter into the narrow but fully stocked kitchen and small living room area.

With microwave/oven, stove top, fridge, dishwasher and various cooking instruments, one could do some cooking if the wanted.

The bedroom is fully separate with a standard door.  A second TV is mounted on the wall.

Closets are built into the wall on either side of the bathroom door.

The view is of trees but beyond the trees is the Parliament building.

Bathroom

The bathroom is clean and modern.  A single vanity is under a heated (as to avoid fogging up) mirror.  The shower has a single, hand held shower head.

The glass door doesn’t create a tight seal and the bathroom floor got quite wet during a shower.

The bath products are wall mounted Rituals… brand.  I was happy to be provided a small bottle of conditioner but not sure why they didn’t just have a third pump in the shower.

Breakfast

Breakfast was a standard Holiday Inn Express type offering with a couple of hot options (powdered eggs), some whole fruit and yogurt as well as some pastries.  Not an impressive spread.

Gym and Public Space

The gym is located off the lobby/common space.

Additionally there are two other common rooms.  One is set up more as a conference room/dining room.

The other is a living room set up that includes a video game console that seemed popular with some families.

In the basement is parking as well as the laundry room.

Overall the Staybridge felt like a more upscale, long term Holiday Inn Express.  My room felt like a small apartment; which would be nice if I had been staying for a week or so.
