Hilton Garden Inn Hanoi Review
Hanoi tends to be an inexpensive city. There are plenty of hotels that offer rooms for around $50 a night. For my two nights, I found a room at the Hilton Garden Inn for only 10,000 Hilton Honor points per night. The Hilton Hanoi Opera, just a few blocks away, was also available but significantly more points (and the reviews aren’t great).
Location
The Hilton Garden Inn is located a bit south of the old town of Hanoi. It is about a 45 minute drive from the airport ($16 transfer from the airport using Hanoi Transfer Service which I recommend).
It is about a 15 minute walk to Hoan Kiem Lake where you will find the night market. There are a ton of restaurants and shops around the hotel.
Check In
I arrived around 11:00am and was told that my room was ready. As a Diamond, I had been upgraded to a suite on the 10th floor (top floor of guest rooms).
The lobby is basic with some seating and a bar/restaurant.
Two elevators take you to the floors with guest rooms.
Room
I was assigned room 1003, a corner suite. As you enter, there is a half bath to the left followed by the living room area. Under the TV/DVD player is a mini fridge.
The view from the living room is out towards the front of the hotel.
The air conditioning works well however it goes off any time you leave the room and you have to manually restart it when returning.
An opening (no door) leads to the bedroom with a second TV.
A window is located behind the bed. The other window leads into the main bathroom.
Bathroom
The main bathroom off of the bedroom area has a single vanity, large shower (with a sloping wall), and separate bathtub under the creepy window. The shower has both a rain shower and handheld wand.
The bath products are Crabtree & Evelyn though the plastic rack was having an identity crisis.
The second bathroom off the entry is just a toilet (with bidet) and sink.
Gym & Laundry
There is a gym located off the lobby. There is no pool.
There is one washer and dryer. Conveniently for me it is located on the 10th floor. There is no cost to use the washer or dryer and detergent is available for purchase in the lobby.
Breakfast
I selected to have an included breakfast rather than 750 points. It is served on the second floor each morning. In addition to a hot made to order station (with eggs, soup, and waffles), there is a large buffet with various hot and cold items (both Asian and Western options).
The Hilton Garden Inn Hanoi offers a good value for points especially if you are entitled to the free breakfast. The location is good but not right in the heart of the old town.
